CLMC Involvement in Diversity Initiatives
CLMC has been involved in Diversity Initiatives since its formation in 1990. Many of the CLMC partners from both labor and management sit on boards and committees of organizations seeking a more diverse make up of the workforce in the construction industry. These organizations along with CLMC have long been involved in continued efforts to diversify the workforce of the construction industry.
Organizations seeking a more diverse construction industry include local, regional and state apprenticeship committees of each of the union construction trades. These apprenticeship committees are on the front lines involved in efforts to recruit and retain women and minorities into the construction trades. CLMC is a partner in the Construction Workforce Diversity Alliance of South Central Wisconsin, an initiative dedicated to increasing and improving access, recruitment, training and retention for women and minorities in construction trade careers. We work hand in hand with training programs, community organizations and governmental agencies to assure success.
CLMC takes pride in the fact that the unionized sector of the construction industry makes a difference in the lives if women and minorities. Diversity is just good for business.
